JEwELrY CaRE

Hi Friends, If you are here you must have just received your Handmade jewelry from us. Usually I have 2 types of jewelry that I make and offer for sale. I either hand sculpt Polymer clay jewelry or I Copper electro-form jewelry. Both types of jewelry require different care so continue reading below to ensure your jewelry lasts you a long time <3

Copper Electro-formed Jewelry Care

  1. Keep it dry! Water or humidity can cause oxidation and tarnishing. I normally oxidized pieces anyway before I sell them to give them an antique look however that does not mean they can't oxidize more and tarnish over time.
  2. Store in a cool, dry, humid free place. Bathrooms are not ideal; Or store in a bag, box or case. I usually provide little suede bags with your purchase.
  3. A lot of my jewelry has quartz or stones that are still at risk of breaking or cracking if dropped so take extra to avoid dropping your jewelry, especially on hard surfaces. (just like crystals!)
  4. Put on your jewelry last to avoid contact with perfumes.
  5. Avoid storing in direct sunlight certain crystals like fluorite or amethyst etc can fade in the sun.
  6. Avoid excessive force or bending.
  7. Take off your jewelry, especially necklaces or pendants before sleep.
  8. Jewelry will come sealed but this usually isn't a permanent solution. Overtime with lots of use the sealant could wear down. This is especially true with hard use jewelry like rings. A sign the sealant is wearing down is green bands around your fingers. Although annoying its usually harmless. Some Clients actually request no sealant because they'd rather not have harsh chemicals around their fingers, at least copper is good for you. If it bothers you, a quick fix for this is clear nail polish unless you so happen to have Protectaclear or renaissance wax on hand.
  9. For a gentle clean, If your piece begins to dull or lightly tarnish you can use a sunshine/polishing cloth to clean it. I usually include a jewelry cleaning cloth with electro-formed pieces.
  10. If your piece tarnishes and needs a deeper clean, you can soak you piece for a few minutes in a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice and then lightly scrub with a toothbrush. (being mindful of the stones or crystals) Throughly dry your piece after wards.
  11. Never hesitate to contact me for any repairs, cleaning, re-sealing If I can do it, I will at no cost to you other than shipping.

Hand Sculpted Polymer Clay Jewelry Care

  1. Avoid excessive force or bending. Polymer Clay is strong but not indestructible, it can still break.

  4. If you have a cotton or leather suede cording you'd like to clean, hand washing and leaving out to air dry will be your best bet.
  5. Take off jewelry, especially pendants before sleep.
  6. Never hesitate to contact me for any repairs, cleaning, re-sealing If I can do it, I will at no cost to you other than shipping.
